FAQ's
What area's do you cover?
Hydro pressure washing delivers premium exterior cleaning throughout Westerham, Bromley, Biggin Hill, Keston, Hayes, Orpington, Petts Wood, Chislehurst, Beckenham, Edenbridge, Oxted, Tatsfield, Brasted, Sundridge, and all neighbouring areas.
Will the weeds come back after cleaning?
Yes, weeds will eventually return. Just like grass, they grow naturally and can reappear over time. We remove everything visible on cleaning day, but some roots may remain below the surface. Regular light maintenance is the best way to keep regrowth under control. Block paving is low‑maintenance, not no‑maintenance. Applying weed killer in advance can help slow regrowth — but only temporarily. All weed‑killing methods require regular re‑application to stay effective.
You mentioned using bleach — is it a weed killer, and is it safe?
Bleach is not a weed killer. It removes organic growth such as algae, black spot, and general staining, but it won’t remove oil, rust, or graffiti. We use it carefully and only after rinsing the area with water. We’ll let you know before we apply it so pets, children, and adults can stay clear. It may affect lawns or plants if it touches them, so we take precautions. The smell fades within a day, and bleach becomes inactive after around 45 minutes. If you prefer we don’t use it, just tell us — but this may affect the final result.
Will sealing the surface help prevent weeds?
Yes. A good quality sealant locks the sand in place and makes it much harder for weeds to establish. Not all sealants are equal — cheaper ones don’t perform as well. We’re happy to recommend the products we trust and avoid those we don’t.
Will the price change after you’ve quoted?
No. Our quotations are fixed for 30 days and include all materials and labour. The only time the price changes is if you ask us to clean additional areas not included in the original quote. Simply contact us via phone or our website to schedule your cleaning.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes, we provide free, no-obligation quotes for all services.
Do you require payment upfront?
Usually no. Payment is made once the job is complete. If specialist materials (like sealant) are required, we may ask you to cover that cost in advance.
Will the sand blow away after you apply it?
Some sand loss is normal due to wind, rain, or slopes. Sand’s purpose is structural, not decorative, so as long as enough remains between the pavers, it’s doing its job.
What happens to the mess created during cleaning?
Dirty water goes into the drains, and we prevent solid waste from entering them. We’ll place old sand and debris in a suitable area on your property, such as a border.
Do you clean walls and surrounding areas afterwards?
Yes. We wash down walls, doors, and surrounding surfaces to remove any splatter before we finish.
How much water will be used, and what will it cost?
A typical driveway clean uses around 2,000 litres of water — usually under £10 on a water meter.
Can you remove oil stains completely?
We use a strong oil remover and will reduce the stain as much as possible. Older stains may leave a faint shadow, especially if they’ve soaked deep into the surface.
Do you charge if we cancel?
No, we simply ask for as much notice as possible.
When and how do we pay?
Payment is made once the job is complete and we’ve walked through the results with you.
What if we’re not happy with something?
We aim to identify potential issues during quoting. If anything isn’t up to standard, we’ll work with you to resolve it.
Will the job cost more if it takes longer?
No. Our price is for the job, not the hours.
Will weak patio pointing come out during cleaning?
Loose pointing may come out. We’re not a repointing company, but products like Sika FastFix can help you repair it yourself.
How long will the surface stay clean?
It varies depending on shade, weather, and usage. Many customers have their driveways cleaned once a year.
What happens if you cause damage?
It’s unlikely, but if anything happens that’s our fault, we’ll discuss the best way to fix it. We have full public liability insurance.
Do we need to be home while you work?
No. As long as we have access to the tap and the areas being cleaned, you don’t need to stay in.
What should we do before you arrive?
Please move pots and furniture away from the area and let neighbours know if their cars are close by. Keep pets and children away during the clean.
What do we need to do after you finish?
If sanding is required, don’t replace pots or furniture until the sand is applied. You can park on the driveway between cleaning and sanding.
What if it rains on cleaning day?
We’ll return as soon as the surface is dry to complete the sanding. You can use the driveway in the meantime.
What time do you start work?
We arrive at 8:30am and usually begin cleaning around 9:00am, finishing around 5:30pm.
Are there weather conditions where you can’t work?
We don’t work in frost or icy conditions, as it’s unsafe and chemicals are less effective. Sanding also can’t be done in wet weather. Otherwise, we work in all conditions.
